Festivities in Jovita Jovita

the slogan: "Today Jesus gives us life," began today, Saturday 21, acts and ninth in honor of San Andrés, Apostle, patron of the local Church, which will culminate on day 30, the feast of the saint.

Making History:
Several documents are reminiscent of St Mary Magdalene as the patroness of our people, population in the early years, celebrating the patronal feast on July 22, the day dedicated to the Saint.

In 1909, the Commission for the Church, presided by Andrés Ibarra, began efforts to build the chapel. Bureaucracy delayed the deed of the land, and only in 1915, could begin construction. In those years, Mr. Ibarra died and his sisters moved to live in Buenos Aires. In 1921, for lack of funds the work had not yet been able to finish. Jovita A delegation travels to meet with the ladies Ibarrola, who undertake to pay the remainder of the building, and ask that you as an employer to St. Andrew the Apostle, in homage to the deceased brother. The opening of the chapel was made in 1922 and in 1924 he brought from Spain, near the high altar, the image of the Holy that is in our church, all given away by the Ibarra family. Over time, St. Andrew the Apostle was identified as the patron of all the people of Jovita.

On November 30, 1949, Father Gerard B. Ureña made the first procession through the streets of the town bearing the image of San Andres. In later years, families living in rural areas, argued who could not attend the celebration, to be in full harvest of wheat. For this reason, the acts were advanced to the second weekend in November.

This year, after more than five decades, the local festival held again in their real date: 30 November.

Public Hearing on November

On Tuesday 17, the Italian Society, held a public hearing at which an open discussion on some issues concern society, including consumption of alcohol by minors and closing times of local dance.
Al conclave attended by members of the municipal executive and a significant number of people in the localidad.Cerca of 22 hours, the local mayor with city council members explained the reasons of this event that many already qualify as historic Jovita. In addition, they presented some points of the Law 8102, and there were cases of neighboring towns with the reading of some ordinances that target the issues, and have already been implemented by various municipalities with very positive results.
Minutes later, were the inhabitants of Jovita who provided their views and proposed various alternatives for trying to solve an issue that concerns many parents of teens who attend events nocturnos.La sale of alcohol to minors and closing times were dance clubs central axis of debate, between the postures that are of most concern to parents is the schedule of opening and closing of premises where young people attend fun. In this regard, several parents expressed their concern about the famous "after" doing the boys before leaving, which usually lasts until 4 am, at which time they begin to enter the bowling alley, and with a high rate blood alcohol.
Among the proposals heard, perhaps one of the most reasonable was to establish a schedule that could be between 2 and 6 am, a police presence to certify compliance with the regulations.
When it looked like the meeting came to an end, one of these presented an issue that the room went quiet: "We should also pay attention because there are people with a backpack walks late at night, and even within hours of the siesta which distributes drugs, I think we must not ignore this, we must do something because no drug Jovita, there are people that the markets and people eating. I have a son, 17 years and this issue concerns me greatly, "said one person who attended the hearing.
While the central theme was linked with the consumption of alcohol by minors and the opening and closing of the bar is attended by hundreds of young Jovita and the region, also spoke of private parties (birthday 15) and bonfires made by students of the secundaria.Participaron also members of the local police department and the General Roca, and among those present could also see Walter Berardo, owner of the famous dance Xcaret resort.
was an unprecedented event for Jovita, excellent initiative of the municipality where each of the sectors present had the opportunity to express problems and possible solutions to the issues raised. An unprecedented event at the local level, in a sovereign and democratic allowed to know a number of alternatives that will surely help to prevent serious problems in the future of our kids.
