the slogan: "Today Jesus gives us life," began today, Saturday 21, acts and ninth in honor of San Andrés, Apostle, patron of the local Church, which will culminate on day 30, the feast of the saint.
Making History:
Several documents are reminiscent of St Mary Magdalene as the patroness of our people, population in the early years, celebrating the patronal feast on July 22, the day dedicated to the Saint.
In 1909, the Commission for the Church, presided by Andrés Ibarra, began efforts to build the chapel. Bureaucracy delayed the deed of the land, and only in 1915, could begin construction. In those years, Mr. Ibarra died and his sisters moved to live in Buenos Aires. In 1921, for lack of funds the work had not yet been able to finish. Jovita A delegation travels to meet with the ladies Ibarrola, who undertake to pay the remainder of the building, and ask that you as an employer to St. Andrew the Apostle, in homage to the deceased brother. The opening of the chapel was made in 1922 and in 1924 he brought from Spain, near the high altar, the image of the Holy that is in our church, all given away by the Ibarra family. Over time, St. Andrew the Apostle was identified as the patron of all the people of Jovita.
On November 30, 1949, Father Gerard B. Ureña made the first procession through the streets of the town bearing the image of San Andres. In later years, families living in rural areas, argued who could not attend the celebration, to be in full harvest of wheat. For this reason, the acts were advanced to the second weekend in November.
This year, after more than five decades, the local festival held again in their real date: 30 November.
